CODE OF ETHICS

Joy Michelson Clancy

Personal Code of Ethics

  • I will put first things first. My decisions and actions will serve students’ best interest above all, and will serve to protect them from conditions detrimental to safety, health, or learning.

  • I will recognize and celebrate the worth, uniqueness, and potential of each person, modeling equity and inclusion within and beyond my school community.

  • I will be transparent in my purpose and act in ways that are fair and just for all concerned, presenting facts without distortion, bias, or personal prejudice, and balancing authority with compassion and a belief that all persons can grow.

  • I will model and encourage open and efficient communication between staff, administration, parents, and students, assuming best intentions and promoting active school/community connections.

  • I will hold myself to a standard of continuous learning and performance that produces exceptional results and quality, and I will communicate optimism and high expectations to build others' capacity for achieving the same.

  • I will have the courage to take risks, and will not let fear or failure limit my thinking or the thinking of others who seek to innovate for school improvement.

  • I will own the mistakes I make, learn from them, and make things right with those my actions may have impacted.
